Reason No. 2,065 For Why I Love Teleread

Teleread, one of the best blogs on digital books and publishing, had a post today as an open letter to Scott Turow, the incoming president of the Author's Guild. Many industry watchers are still talking about the BEA CEO panel where Turow talked with other industry professionals (check out the previous links at this post including a url to C-Span's coverage of the panel).

Considering the continuing rise of ebooks, worry is still in the air over the rush to claim piracy as a reason as to why ebooks are doomed. The open letter addresses and debunks this among many other issues and raises some great points. It'd be great if Turow responds or at least takes the suggestions to serious consideration.

You can check out the full letter with links here.

Freebie Book Links

Suvudu has updated their free library with His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik, the first book in her Temeraire series. The sixth book in the series, Tongues of Serpents, is due for release July 13!

Harlequin is offering some free ebooks, one of which I'm beyond excited about.

Julie Kagawa's novella Winter Passage is now available for free download. This takes place between The Iron King & The Iron Daughter in her Iron Fey series, both of which have been reviewed (and very much enjoyed) here. Be sure to grab yourself a copy before July 31st!

Harlequin is also offering Robyn Carr's Sheltering Hearts as apart of their Special Release Program.

Kindle's new separation of Paid and Freebie best sellers is now in effect so you can check out the list of Kindle freebies and the paid releases now at this page.

Tomorrow is release day for Carina Press, Harlequin's ebook division. They have a great lineup of book. A few of which I'll be reviewing courtesy of NetGalley. Check out the available excerpts here at the CP website!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Bookstacks has invited me to chat on their show Off the Shelf which will be shot in Second Life and broadcasted at Radio Riel at 1 p.m. Pac time. I'm so excited because they've had some wonderful authors on their show including Adele Ward, Vicki Petterson, Steve Miller and Sharon Lee, Melissa Mayhue, Tobias Buckell and tons of other great folks.

Come on down and check out the show where I'll be sharing some info on my works, writing process and a little addiction I had to role playing in sci-fi realms. ;-)

The show will take place on Bookstack's Awen sim located here.

If you can't make it in-world, don't forget to drop by Radio Riel for the feed there.

Hope you enjoy the show!!
